Proverbs 27:4 reads,
"Wrath is cruel and anger a torrent, But who is able to stand before jealousy?"
One thing God wants us to do, is be happy with what he has provided us. But you will have people that stay unhappy wishing to have what another person has. I have been guilty of this, watching other people get ahead of me, instead of being happy with what God provided for me. While a person sits there dreaming and wishing to have what someone else has, think about how it actually effects them. Trying to be someone else and not accomplishing that goal, can sometimes lead to low self esteem. When a person looks at them self in the mirror, they should be able to see a child of God. But most people look in the mirror then watch TV, and see what the world wants them to be. And they become jealous or envy of others. 1 peter 2:9 reads,
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light"
That is how a person should see them self when they look in the mirror. Not be disappointed because another person said they should be this way, or upset because that person they like, likes another person. Then that person becomes jealous of that other person features. Be happy with what God provided you, because you are special in his eyes. Those are the only eyes a person should care about, then there might be another half that God provides.
They speak of the love of money being the root of all evil, but the next think is jealousy, envy and hate. Do people not realize that is why the devil was thrown out of the heavens. He was jealous of God. I am not going type the verses but look up Isaiah 14:12-14, as it talks about him being thrown out of the heavens. Now, everyone knows the devil use to be an angel. If God will throw one of his angels out for this emotion, why do you think he will let someone in that lived their whole life with this emotion. It is one thing to be humble and recognize someone else's blessing, but never wish them for yourself. look at Ezekiel 28:15,
"You were perfect in you ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you"
Everyone is born perfect in God's eyes. but the media and other people fill others heads that they have flaws. No matter what troubles one have, the one source of finding happiness or fixing problems is God. It is not wishing or hating on another person blessing. Sometimes the person you envy do not even realize their blessing them self. Realize when you envy someone else, you are really telling God, you do not like the work he put into you. James 3:16-17 reads,
"For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy."
We are all born pure, but things of the world corrupt our minds. We start to fell that the things of the world are the things to follow. The things we should worship and envy. Jealousy has us hate or want to be more like a certain thing. Hate leads to angry. The wanting can lead to failure and low self esteem itself. Things of the world play with our minds, and sometimes lead of into depression. Look at Roman 1:1,
"Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things."
Thats an example of when jealousy and envy sometimes can lead to hate or anger. A person spends time to judge and predetermine how another person is. Now Luke 6:41 reads,
"And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?"
Why do most people not see the beauty that is within them. This image that is uphold by many on how we are suppose to be, and if you do not fit that description, you not wanted. That is another reason the two sins play a part in people life. Everyone wants to be wanted, they start to feel they are not accepted and want to be like the people who are. Look at Roman 12:2,
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God"
Not what other people think of you, but visualize what God wants of you. How he sees you, do not let people rob you of that.
